200 TRUNKS, 200 VISIONARIES: THE EXHIBITION
Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton
During my trip to NYC, I stopped by the Louis Vuitton trunk exhibition and I was really amazed. The exhibition felt like it was never ending and there was so much to see, experience, and learn. The staff was very knowledgeable about the trunks and the artist behind the trunks. Some rooms were an immersive experience and my favorite had to be the balloon trunk and the leather trunk. The balloon trunk by Robert Moy was very fun and playful. The idea of this room is that you are inside the trunk and that is exactly how you felt. From the Supreme X LV trunk to Franky Zapata’s trunk that can fly, the exhibition is very interesting and I highly recommend visiting it! The rooms become immersive such as the Peter Marino room. When I entered this room I thought the lights went out and to my surprise, it just so happened to be a pitch-black room with a trunk covered in black leather straps. You see a figure of the artist in the corner but then you later realize the black room is what it would feel like inside the trunk. I did not see very many posts on social media about the exhibition which was great since I was surprised several times. I did know that the LV tote was the must-have item from this exhibition. I did want a poster since the trunk on the poster was silver like an opaque mirror but my purchase did not come with a tote. However, I do recommend making a stop here as it is free and a great time.
